Mossy Cave Trail

Access to the Mossy Cave Trail is from Highway 12 near the town of Tropic, it’s a short trail climbing about 200ft.

Bryce Valley was settled by Mormon Pioneers in the late 1800’s, the valley had almost everything the pioneers needed, but it didn’t have a reliable water source.

Over two years starting in 1890 the pioneers hand dug a 10 mile canal across the rocky Paunsaugunt Plateau to divert water from the East Fork of the Sevier River through a canyon and into another canal near present day highway 12. Once assured of a steady water supply the town of Tropic was founded.

The trail along the canyon.

Some interesting rock formations along the trail.

The waterfall near the end of the trail.

Have fun, we are!
