26 June Partial Escape from the Heat!

After spending just over a week at Tombstone Territories RV Resort in Huachuca City cleaning the Cougar and getting stocked up with food we headed out, hoping to leave the heat behind us.

Even though we left early to get through Phoenix before the heat really took hold, BT’s thermometer still read 102F as we were driving through Phoenix at 10:15, that’s hot!

I17 north through Black Canyon City is the start of a climb up into the mountains and is steep, very steep. Unfortunately the climb was slow as we got stuck behind a row of semi trucks and there was no way anyone was going to let us pull out to pass the trucks.

Thankfully we were only taking I17 as far as Cordes Junction and from there it was an easy run Yavapai Fairgrounds RV Park. We arrived around lunchtime and got set up, it was a good 10 degrees cooler than Tombstone Territories, but still hot!

Have fun, we are!
