A Walk Through the Woods

I’m way behind with our blog and trying to catch up, we stayed in Williams, Arizona for a few days and while we were there decided to revisit one of our most favourite places in the world. The Grand Canyon.

As it was coming up to the 4th July holiday weeked, we expected we would be absolutely falling over people, and had we actually gone to the South Rim, I expect that would have been the case, but we didn’t.

We parked the truck and took an unmarked trail through the woods. The trail winds through tall pine trees with clearings on either side which at this time of the year are covered with wildflowers.

At the end of the trail are picnic tables and a composting loo, but to drive to this area you need to know where it is and have a permit. We have rarely met anyone here and today was no exception, this was our view.

We walked past the limestone pillar sat on a very convenient limestone step and contemplated the view. It was quiet and peaceful the only sounds were the wind and the rushing of the swifts as they swooped around the canyon.

Ah bliss!

Have fun, we are!
